Harlow CC, who have a long history with scoreboards dating back to when Sam Deards invented the first mechanised scoreboard over 100 years ago, recently replaced their scoreboard with a new bespoke electronic scoreboard from Durant Cricket.
During the scoreboard installation, Alan Howick, President of Harlow CC, talked about the new bespoke electronic scoreboard installation and the Harlow inventor -Sam Deards.

“The Scoreboard and the ‘revolving figures’ was probably invented around 1902 by Sam Deards who had a factory called Victoria Works in Old Harlow. It was initially trialled at the Marigolds Sports Field by Harlow CC and was advertised in Wisden along with other products as well”
