For All Your Grant Aid Needs
Durant Cricket works closely with trusted funding professionals to help clubs and organisations bring their cricket facility projects to life. Whether you’re applying for grant aid or exploring funding routes for your next development, we can connect you with the right people who make the process as smooth and straightforward as possible.
Our recommended funding associates — Richard Cox at Blind Summit Sports, TJB, and 4Grants — have a proven track record in successfully securing grants for cricket clubs across the UK. It is worth mentioning that each of our funding associates and their businesses have a different process in dealing and managing your application from start to finish.
How the Process Works
We want to keep things simple and transparent. Despite each associate having different ways of working with your application, here are the typical procedures you can expect when you choose to explore funding through our network:
It is worth noting the steps below are susceptible to change in accordance with our associates guidelines.
Step 1: Free Initial Chat
Start with an informal, free-of-charge meeting with one of our funding partners to discuss your project, its scope, and its overall viability.
Step 2: Agree on Initial Work Plan
If the project looks viable:
-
We’ll agree on a small up-front fee with the club to cover initial groundwork (like collecting documents and helping shape your bid).
-
This will be based on a no win, no fee approach when it comes to submitting the actual grant application.
Step 3: Success Fee Agreement
We’ll also agree on a percentage-based fee, payable only if the funding application is successful. This keeps things fair and results-driven.
Step 4: Build a Strong Application
Our funding associates will:
-
Liaise with grant authorities
-
Help fine-tune your bid
-
Offer honest advice about your chances of success
-
Ensure all regulatory and grant requirements are clearly understood from the outset
Step 5: Plan the Project
Once your bid is submitted, we work together – club, funding expert, and us at Durant, to plan out realistic timeframes, build schedules, and delivery lead times.
Step 6: Ongoing Support
If your bid is successful, the relationship doesn’t stop there:
-
Your funding partner stays involved to ensure the funds are used appropriately.
-
You’ll receive support on grant compliance, reporting, and ensuring your spend aligns with the grant’s requirements.
Case Studies
Both of the case studies below were orchestrated through our funding initiatives with our partners and contacts. We have also completed several other projects like this at Clubs such as West Bromwich Dartmouth, Cannock, and Smethwick.
Walsall Cricket Club

The project began with an informal, free-of-charge (FOC) consultation meeting to assess the club’s goals, facility requirements, and the viability of a grant-supported build. This initial engagement established a clear roadmap and built confidence in the project’s feasibility.
Following this, an upfront bid support agreement was reached. We partnered with the club on a no-win, no-fee basis, assisting in gathering documentation, shaping the funding narrative, and drafting a professional grant bid. Throughout the process, we maintained open lines of communication with various grant authorities, helping the club understand the application process, timeframes, and the likelihood of approval.
Once the grant bid was submitted, we worked closely with Walsall Cricket Club to align timelines, construction windows, and delivery expectations—ensuring all aspects of the project remained feasible and on-track while awaiting a funding decision.
Upon successful award of the grant, we continued our involvement by providing post-award support—advising the club on grant compliance, helping track eligible expenditure, and offering guidance to ensure the project aligned with grant aid regulations throughout.
Wednesbury Cricket Club

This project at Wednesbury C.C. also demonstrates what can be achieved through our strategic funding initiatives with our collaborative partnerships.
An existing single bay facility was transformed into a high-quality 2-bay cricket practice facility. This was installed with both surfacing and structural works:
-
Total footprint: 33.20m x 11.08m
-
Cage dimensions: 32.94m (L) x 10.98m (W) x 4.00m (H)
-
Internal dividers: Finished at 21.96m
-
Surface: Installed over layers of performance aggregate, featuring GeoTuft on a needle-punch recycled GeoPad
-
Spoil: Left on site as agreed
This project showcases how combined efforts and external funding can create lasting, professional-grade sports infrastructure for community use.
Case Study of Durant Cricket's Funding Scheme
Check out a non turf area installed by Durant Cricket with funding provided by our grant services. We caught up with Nav, Chairman of Oakfield Parkonians, along with other long-standing members to chat about their newly installed Durant Cricket outdoor practice nets.
Nav was incredibly happy with the recent installation, particularly the GeoCricket Systems surfacing providing both durability and high levels of replication to match pitches.
