Orton Park Cricket Club
Orton Park Cricket Club
Overview
We’ve worked tirelessly with clubs across the country to get them in a position of strength in time for this season. As part of a series exploring the work we’ve done in the last few months, we begin with a look into our project with Orton Park Cricket Club in Peterborough.
Alongside coverage from The Cricketer magazine, we explore the full scale of our rebuilding project with Orton Park CC. This work incorprorated a new two-bay netting system, an artificial pitch and a new electronic scoreboard.
The Cricketer spoke with chairman, Mark Durham, about the impact Durant Cricket has had on Orton Park’s facilities. Scroll down to download a link to the full article.
Q: Tell Us About Your New Netting System
“There used to be one old single-lane net, which was very tired and not fit for purpose. But to Durant Cricket’s credit… they managed to get the job done. What we’ve got now has made a huge impact, especially for the juniors, but for all those involved with the club.”
Q: What Is The Impact Of Your New Artificial Pitch?
“All our junior games are played on the artificial. We have a midweek adults team using it as well, so it gets a fair bit of peppering. It feels like you’re playing on a brand new wicket.”
“It’s perfect. I think they’re great for kids to learn on because not everyone has a good grass wicket. At times, you can get out to a real grubber on grass, but you don’t get that at all on our artificial.”
“Every club should get an artificial pitch… they’re not that expensive for the amount of use you get out of them.”
Q: What's Your Verdict On Durant Cricket?
“Durant are who we always prefer to use. Their reputation and quality speaks volumes.”
