Millfield School Cricket Centre
Millfield School Cricket Centre
Millfield School
Opened in Spring 2020, the Millfield Indoor Cricket Centre is a world-class facility, being spoken about in the same conversations as the National Cricket Centre at Loughborough.
Following the build process, Durant Cricket worked with Millfield Director of Cricket, Mark Garaway, to complete the fitting out of the facility.
Built on a foundation of a five-lane netting system, including a fixed roof and retractable wings, the facility allows for complete flexibility. The Durant Cricket DCI Pro Surface has been installed throughout the netting system, with variations in the surface allowing for specific lanes to be more conducive to seam and spin bowling.
Mark spoke with The Cricketer magazine for their 2021 Schools Guide about the impact the facility has had, and about his experience working with Durant.
Q: Tell Us About The Centre
"There was a lot of planning ahead of this project, but in the end, the build came together very quickly. To hear professional players comparing our facility to the National Cricket Centre is very flattering."
Q; What Are The Main Elements Of The Project?
"We have five lanes with three different pitch types to assist spin and seam bowling. We want to challenge every batsman and bowler to work across the lanes and adapt their games."
Q: Tell Us About Working With Cristian And The Team At Durant Cricket
"I've known Cristian for years and his understanding of cricket and technical solutions for cricket buildings is off the charts. Between us, we met every challenge and it is Cristian's knowledge of the game that sets his business apart from the rest."
Q: What Is The Impact Of The Project?
"The centre we've built allows for increased numbers inside, working in a multi-discipline fashion. We can have two squads practising at the same time - in the spin nets, in the seam nets, and also diving around in the 4G fielding area. It's a game changer for us."
